Eine wunderschöne Lithografie mit Lackschicht und hochwertiger Farbe, die die Himmelsleiter oder Paradiesleiter darstellt. Eine Ikone, die durch die handgefertigte künstliche Alterung ästhetisch aufgewertet und von kollektivem Wert ist. Es handelt sich um eine exakte Kopie einer byzantinischen Hagiografie.
Die Scala, die große Popularität erlangte und ihren Autor in der Kirche berühmt machte, richtet sich an Anachoreten und Zönobiten und behandelt die Mittel, mit denen der höchste Grad religiöser Vollkommenheit erreicht werden kann. Sie ist in dreißig Teile oder „Schritte“ unterteilt, in Erinnerung an die dreißig Lebensjahre Christi, des göttlichen Vorbilds für den gläubigen Christen. Sie präsentiert ein Bild aller Tugenden und enthält zahlreiche Gleichnisse und historische Anspielungen, die hauptsächlich dem Klosterleben entnommen sind und die praktische Anwendung der Vorschriften veranschaulichen.
Gleichzeitig ist das Werk, da es meist in prägnanter, sententieller Form und mit Hilfe von Aphorismen verfasst ist und die Argumente nicht ausreichend miteinander verknüpft sind, stellenweise etwas unklar. Dies erklärt, warum es schon in sehr früher Zeit Gegenstand verschiedener Kommentare war. Die älteste Handschrift mit der Scala befindet sich in der Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris und wurde wahrscheinlich von Katharina von Medici aus Florenz mitgebracht. In einigen dieser Handschriften trägt das Werk den Titel „Geistliche Tafeln“ (Plakes pneumatikai).

Another beautiful piece from an excellent shop. It arrived well-packaged and in a fair amount of time, as described and even more beautiful in person.
The icon is as described. One small issue the staple holding the hanging loop in the back, it's about 1/2-in off-center causing the icon to tilt to one side. I'll be able to fix it, it is an aesthetic issue.
Also there was a long delay in shipping. Seller ship the item quickly, but tracking showed it was in arrived a month after the estimated delivery date.
