The Significance of Christ Pantocrator

"Pantocrator" means "Ruler of All" or "Almighty" — the central image of Christ in Orthodox tradition. The Lord raises His right hand in blessing, while His left holds the Gospel, here closed and richly jewelled: the Word of God treasured and enthroned. The cruciform halo bears the Greek letters Ο ΩΝ ("He Who Is"), and the monogram IC XC names Jesus Christ.

This version is finished with a deeply aged, antiqued patina, recalling the venerable icons of old whose gold and colours have been softened by centuries of veneration. Such weathered icons carry a particular sense of timelessness and prayerful presence.
