O Virgin Mary, I humbly beseech you to free me from the chains of sin that bind me—
from my lustful desires and transgressions.
Deliver me from the grip of carelessness and the burden of excessive worry,
from harmful curiosity and idle chatter,
from fruitless indulgence and pride,
from negligence, drunkenness, and a lack of compassion.
Remove from me all wicked desires and the stain of impurity,
the trap of extravagance and the shadows of insensitivity.
Take away my tendency to jest inappropriately,
my enjoyment of excess,
the laughter born of immorality, and all forms of evil.
In their place, grant me, O pure Maiden, the gift of fasting,
a spirit of carefulness, vigilance, and perfect obedience.
Instill in me attentiveness in all things
and sharpen my discernment.
Bestow upon me silence, order, and holy patience.
Encourage in me a fervent desire to work towards my perfection,
and a zeal for virtues and spiritual practice.
O most-holy Lady, safeguard my soul, my heart, and my mind
in holiness, and protect them in your sacred virginity.
