This wonderful icon has been created with the technique of lithography and has a double varnish to ensure waterproof and duration in time. The creator of this icon has learned the canonization of iconography in workshops of the Monasteries of Mount Athos, where he was taught both the technique of lithography and the process of handmade artificial ageing.


His memory is celebrated on April 10.


He worked on the walls of Smyrna. That year, although he worked hard, not only did he gain nothing but he also owed a debt to the Turkish wall manager. The next year he was taken over by another Ottoman administrator in Divari, who pressured the saint to go to work in order to pay his debt and get his share, like the others. The saint did not want to go in any way, although he was encouraged by the other fishermen.


Then the Turkish manager of the wall got angry and slandered him that he swore that if he did not go to work on the wall he would become a Turk. He found other false Turkish witnesses and took him to court. The judge pressured him to become a Muslim, as he had sworn. The saint shouted that they were lying and that he could not become a Turk and that, as a Christian, he believed in Christ and was ready to shed his blood for Christ.


He was then severely beaten, tortured and thrown in jail. They locked his legs in the log, even inserting bricks and other rough materials into the holes of the punitive wood, to increase the tightness and make the pain worse. The saint endured everything with a lot of patience and bravery.


A Christian named Nicholas, a martyr, went to prison on his own, to support the saint and strengthen him in martyrdom.


The judge ordered and the saint was brought two or three times for questioning. He tried to make him change his mind in many ways, flattery, ranks for many pleasures and honors, threats of harsher torture and even death. He did not succeed in convincing the witnes
