Saint Matrona of Moscow (1881 - May 2, 1952), known as the Wonderworker, was gifted with spiritual vision and healing from childhood. Her feast day is celebrated on May 2. Her life is marked by extraordinary miracles, including the ability to foresee the future and heal the sick.

Born blind in Sebino, Tula Province, Matrona was the fourth child of Dmitry and Natalia Nikonov. Her mother initially planned to send her to an orphanage but had a prophetic dream guiding her to keep the child. Matrona’s blindness was seen as a sign of her divine purpose, and her baptism was accompanied by a column of light. From an early age, she exhibited spiritual insight and performed miracles.

At just 7 years old, Matrona began healing the sick. People from surrounding villages flocked to her for help, and through her prayers, many were healed. Despite her own paralysis at 17, Matrona continued to help others, living a life of asceticism and prayer. She never complained about her condition, embracing it as part of her divine mission.

 Her life exemplifies the power of the Holy Spirit, showing that holiness is achievable by all. She taught through actions, offering guidance and blessings to those in need. Her legacy continues to inspire millions worldwide, with many calling on her intercession for help and healing.

Her gifts of spiritual vision and healing were evident from a young age, and she was known to foresee future events, perceive sins, and heal those who came to her. Despite her physical paralysis at the age of 17, Matrona lived a life of prayer, fasting, and asceticism. She embraced her suffering as part of God's plan for her.

Saint Matrona was not a nun or an educated scholar, but her life was deeply immersed in the grace of the Holy Spirit. She taught people not through words, but through the example of her life. Her story reminds us that holiness is not reserved for the educated or elite, but is accessible to all who embrace faith and prayer. Today, people continue to turn to Saint Matrona for help and intercession, and her legacy as a beacon of love, faith, and divine grace remains strong.

She is said to have predicted her own death three days in advance, accepting all visitors during those final days. After her passing in 1952, her gravesite became a place of pilgrimage. Her remains are now housed in the Church of the Protecting Veil of Our Lady at Intercession Convent in Moscow.
