Byzantine Silver Orthodox icon of Panagia Kazan

This exquisite Byzantine serigraphy icon, crafted from pure Silver 925* and enhanced with PVD for lasting durability, depicting  Panagia Kazan while adhering to the esteemed Athonian technique. Its intricate artistry not only conveys deep religious significance but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of any setting.

The Holy Icon of Panagia Kazan depicts Virgin Mary standing next to Jesus Christ, tenderly turning her head towards Him. Jesus Christ is shown in a standing position, blessing. The Kazan Icon of the Virgin Mary is also known as the Black Virgin of Kazan or the Theotokos of Kazan, and it holds immense religious significance as a sacred image.

The icon mysteriously disappeared. After the conquest of the city of Kazan, around 1579 AD, a fire broke out in the Kazan Kremlin, which caused its complete destruction. To restore peace and unity among the city's residents, the sacred icon of Panagia Kazan miraculously appeared to a young girl named Matrona. The Virgin Mary showed her the location of the sacred icon, and the girl shared the story with her mother.

Since then, the Holy Icon of Our Lady of Kazan has performed countless miracles, the first being the healing of the blind man, Joseph. However, on November 29, 1904, the sacred icon mysteriously disappeared once again from the Holy Monastery of the Theotokos of Kazan. Although thieves were found with the precious covering of the icon, the icon itself was never recovered. Even a replica of the icon, which was placed in St. Petersburg, disappeared in 1917 on its way to Moscow. The first feast day is on July 8, commemorating its discovery, and the second feast day is on October 22.

Today, the Holy Icon of Panagia Kazan continues to symbolize peace and protection.

This icon is designed for versatile display; it can be hung on a wall or placed on a flat surface, making it an elegant addition to any home or sacred space. The harmonious blend of religious themes and artistic craftsmanship, along with its rich theological context, renders it a meaningful tribute to the Christian faith.
