The Significance of Guardian Angel
A Guardian Angel is a divine protector assigned to each person. In Orthodox tradition, prayers for a guardian angel are included in the litanies:
"An angel of peace, a faithful guide, a guardian of our souls and bodies, let us ask of the Lord."
Saint Basil the Great teaches: "The [guardian] Angel will not retreat from us unless we drive him away by our evil deeds. As smoke drives away bees and stench repels doves, so our sins drive away the angel who protects our life."
