The Significance of the Panagia Panton Chara

The title "Panton Chara" (Greek: Πάντων Θλιβομένων η Χαρά) means "the Joy of All Who Sorrow." In this beloved image the Mother of God is venerated as the comfort of the afflicted and the gladness of the sorrowful — a radiant protectress who offers a universal joy that rises above every earthly trial.

Holding her Son, the source of all consolation, she extends her tenderness and intercession to the suffering and the broken-hearted. As a devotional icon, the Panagia Panton Chara is a sign of hope, comfort and the maternal love of the Theotokos — a treasured presence in any prayer corner and a meaningful gift of spiritual peace.

Handmade in Greece since 1978.

Every piece leaves our workshop finished by hand — the wood prepared, the image laid, the surface aged and varnished. One at a time, the way Greek icon workshops have worked for generations.

We make them to be lived with: held in prayer, hung in a quiet corner, passed on.

"Come close to God, and God will come close to you." — James 4:8
