This Orthodox icon is a handmade lithography of Prophet Elijah (Elias/Ilias), crafted with double varnish for water resistance and lasting durability. One of the greatest Old Testament prophets, Prophet Elijah was born in Tishbe of Gilead from the Levite tribe, 900 years before the Incarnation of Christ.
According to Saint Epiphanios of Cyprus, when Elijah was born, his father had a vision of men swaddling him in fire and feeding him flames, symbolizing his divine mission. His name, meaning “The Lord’s strength”, defined his life of fasting, prayer, and unwavering faith.
As a prophet in Israel during the reign of King Ahab, Elijah fiercely opposed idol worship, denouncing the people's turn to Baal under Queen Jezebel’s influence. When the nation refused to repent, he prophesied a devastating drought, which came to pass through his prayers. This Byzantine icon captures his powerful presence as a fiery zealot of faith, calling Israel back to God.
A timeless piece of Orthodox Christian iconography, created with reverence and traditional techniques.
We intentionally and respectfully design our pieces to transcend passing trends. We believe in creating timeless items that will uplift your Spirit and bring you closer to Him.
"James 4:8 (NLT) says,“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world."
