Saint Athena is one of the 40 Holy Virgins. They lived during the time of the Roman Emperor Licinius in Adrianople, Thrace. The leaders of the region arrested them as Christians and urged them to worship idols. All of them denied and then they were martyred. They celebrate on September 1st.
This wonderful icon has been created with the technique of lithography. The creator of this icon has learned the canonization of iconography in workshops of the Monasteries of Mount Athos, where he was taught both the technique of lithography and the process of handmade artificial ageing, which bears the image with the representation of St Athena the Martyr.
Can be hung on a wall or placed on a flat surface.
