Saint Charalambos, a revered martyr, was a priest (in Greek tradition) or bishop (in Russian tradition) in Magnesia during the late 2nd and early 3rd centuries. He was martyred for openly preaching the Gospel during the reign of Emperor Alexander Severus (222-235).

Charalambos lived to the remarkable age of 113 and was arrested for converting many pagans. Despite severe torture by Proconsul Lucian, he remained steadfast in his faith, which amazed his executioners and led some to convert. The military commander Lucius, angered by this, had several executed, but after a miraculous event involving his own severed hands, he sought mercy from Charalambos. This prompted his conversion and baptism, leading Lucian to halt the persecution of Christians. Charalambos' feast is celebrated on February 10, honoring his legacy of strength and faith.
