This Orthodox icon is a Byzantine lithography of Saint Constantine the Great, crafted with a double varnish layer to ensure vivid colors, water resistance, and durability. Created using the Athonite technique, this icon holds deep religious and aesthetic value.
Saint Constantine the Great (February 27, 272 – May 22, 337), honored as an Equal-to-the-Apostles, was proclaimed Augustus in 306 and ruled the Roman Empire until his death. He is renowned for founding Constantinople (New Rome) and for the Edict of Milan (313), which ended Christian persecution. His role in convening the First Council of Nicaea (325) helped shape Christian doctrine, making him a pivotal figure in the faith’s history.
The Orthodox Church celebrates his feast day on May 21, along with his mother, Saint Helen.
Perfect for wall hanging or placement on a flat surface.
