This exquisite Orthodox icon of St. David of Euboea is created using the traditional lithography technique, featuring a double varnish layer for enhanced durability and water resistance. Handmade artificial aging gives it a timeless, antique character, reflecting the sacred tradition of Byzantine hagiography. Crafted by an artisan trained in the workshops of the Monasteries of Mount Athos, this icon beautifully embodies the spiritual depth and artistic heritage of Orthodoxy.
St. David of Euboea (1500–1601), also known as the Elder, was a revered monk, ascetic, and wonderworker. Born in Thessaly, Greece, he embraced monasticism at a young age and became known for his humility, compassion, and miraculous works. He founded the Monastery of the Transfiguration on Mount St. David in Northern Euboea, where his relics remain a source of healing and divine grace. His feast day is celebrated on November 1st.
In Orthodox iconography, St. David is depicted with a serene expression, holding a cross as a symbol of his ascetic struggle and spiritual triumph. His life of prayer, miracles, and selfless love for others continues to inspire the faithful.
This Orthodox icon can be hung on a wall or placed on a flat surface, making it an ideal addition to a home prayer corner or sacred space. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the transformative power of faith, humility, and the pursuit of holiness.
