St. Demetrios (270–306 AD) is one of the most beloved military saints of the Orthodox Church. Born into a noble family in Thessaloniki, he became a high-ranking officer in the Roman army. Despite his prestigious position, he devoted his life to Christ, spreading the Gospel and converting many to Christianity. Arrested and martyred for his faith, his steadfast devotion earned him the title of Great Martyr and Myrrh-Streamer. His relics, known for producing fragrant myrrh, are enshrined in Thessaloniki, where he is honored as the city’s patron saint. His feast day is celebrated on October 26th.
