Saint Nicholas was born in the 3rd century AD in Parthos of Lycia to devout parents. Orphaned at a young age, he inherited a large fortune, which he generously used to help those in need. His philanthropic spirit and deep faith led him to embrace an ascetic life.

Despite not seeking recognition, Nicholas was appointed priest in Patara and later became Archbishop of Myra, where he guided his flock with love and boldly upheld the truth of the Gospel. He was imprisoned during the persecutions of Diocletian but was freed when Constantine became emperor. Nicholas even participated in the First Ecumenical Council, where his wisdom and virtue were widely recognized.

Saint Nicholas was known for his miraculous deeds, both during his life and after. He passed away in 330 AD, and the Church commemorates him on December 6th, as the patron saint of sailors.
