The Significance of Saint Panteleimon

Saint Panteleimon (died c. 305), whose name means "the all-merciful," was a young physician of Nicomedia and court doctor to the emperor. Converted to Christ, he healed the sick freely and without payment in the name of the Lord, becoming one of the Holy Unmercenaries (Anargyroi).

Denounced during the persecution of Diocletian, he endured many torments and was at last beheaded, receiving the crown of martyrdom. He is among the most beloved healing saints of the Orthodox world — the great monastery on Mount Athos bears his name — and is invoked, together with the holy Unmercenaries, by all who are ill. He is celebrated on 27 July. As a devotional icon, Saint Panteleimon is a source of healing and consolation for the sick and a meaningful gift for physicians and those who bear his name.

Handmade in Greece since 1978.

Every piece leaves our workshop finished by hand — the wood prepared, the image laid, the surface aged and varnished. One at a time, the way Greek icon workshops have worked for generations.

We make them to be lived with: held in prayer, hung in a quiet corner, passed on.
