Handmade artificial aging adds a timeless, antique character, reflecting the sacred beauty and craftsmanship of Byzantine iconography. Produced by an artisan trained in the Monasteries of Mount Athos, this icon embodies the spiritual depth and authentic craftsmanship of Orthodox Christian art.
St. Therapon is a revered Christian martyr and bishop of the 3rd century, known for his strong faith and his steadfast devotion to Christ. He served as a bishop in the city of Antioch during a time of intense Christian persecution under the Roman Emperor Decius. St. Therapon is remembered for his unyielding courage in the face of suffering, as he continued to preach the Gospel despite threats and challenges. His martyrdom and example of faith inspired countless others to remain true to their Christian beliefs. His feast day is celebrated on October 10th.
In Orthodox iconography, St. Therapon is depicted as a bishop, holding a pastoral staff and wearing the vestments of his ecclesiastical office. His serene expression reflects his deep faith, spiritual authority, and commitment to the service of Christ and His Church.
