This beautifully crafted Orthodox icon of Pentecost is created using the traditional lithography technique, with a double varnish layer for enhanced water resistance and lasting durability. The icon undergoes handmade artificial aging, giving it a timeless, antique appearance that reflects the sacred beauty of Byzantine iconography. Produced by an artisan trained in the Monasteries of Mount Athos, this icon represents the highest standards of Orthodox Christian craftsmanship.
Pentecost, celebrated 50 days after Pascha, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, as described in Acts 2:1-4. This event marks the birth of the Church and the fulfillment of Christ’s promise to send the Comforter. Tongues of fire appeared above the Apostles' heads, enabling them to speak in various languages and spread the Gospel to all nations. Pentecost is one of the greatest feasts in the Orthodox Church, symbolizing the universal mission of salvation.
In Orthodox iconography, Christ’s Apostles are seated in a semicircle, with the Holy Spirit descending in the form of a dove or flames. At the bottom, a crowned figure, known as "Kosmos," symbolizes the world enlightened by the Spirit. The composition conveys unity, divine grace, and the universal call to discipleship and sanctification through the Holy Spirit.
This Orthodox icon of Pentecost can be hung on a wall or placed on a flat surface, making it a meaningful addition to any prayer corner or sacred space. It serves as a reminder of the Church’s mission, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the calling to live in communion with God and one another.

"James 4:8 (NLT) says,“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world."
