The miraculous Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary, known as "Panagia Ierosolymitissa" dates back to the 19th century, specifically to 1870. All testimonies agree that this icon was painted by the nun Tatiana of the Russian Holy Monastery of the Myrrh-Bearing Saint Mary Magdalene through a vision. It is said to be the only icon that depicts the characteristics of the Holy Form of the Virgin Mary more accurately than any other. In this vision, the Virgin Mary asked Tatiana for the icon to be transferred to Gethsemane. Since then, the icon has been located at the Sacred Pilgrimage of the Theotokos Memorial in Gethsemane, where it works miracles.

Many consider the Panagia Ierosolymitissa to be the most faithful depiction of the Virgin's form. It is said that Paisios the Athonite had a particular devotion to this icon, keeping a representation of it in his cell on Mount Athos. He is quoted as saying, "The Panagia looks very similar to the icon of the Panagia Ierosolymitissa. She is exactly the same. I have seen Her many times, and I do not know of any other icon which resembles Her more."
