This finely crafted Orthodox icon of St. Eugene Rodionov is made using the traditional lithography technique, with a double varnish layer for enhanced durability and water resistance. Handmade artificial aging gives it a timeless, antique character, reflecting the sacred artistry of Byzantine iconography. This icon is produced by an artisan trained in the Monasteries of Mount Athos, where the spiritual and artistic traditions of iconography are faithfully preserved.
St. Eugene Rodionov (1977–1996) is a modern martyr of the Orthodox Church, known for his unwavering faith and sacrifice. A Russian soldier, he was captured during the First Chechen War and was given the choice to remove his cross and renounce his Christian faith to save his life. Refusing to betray Christ, he was executed at the age of 19. His courageous stand for Orthodoxy has inspired many faithful, and he is venerated as a model of youthful bravery and steadfast faith. His feast day is observed on May 23rd.
In Orthodox iconography, St. Eugene is typically depicted as a young soldier, holding a cross as a symbol of his martyrdom and unwavering devotion to Christ. His life exemplifies the triumph of faith over fear and the power of enduring loyalty to God.
