A wonderful lithography with a varnish layer and high quality paint depicting Saint Euphemia. An icon aesthetically upgraded with collective value due to the handmade artificial ageing it has undergone. This is an exact copy of a Byzantine hagiography.

The feast day of Saint Euphemia is September 16 in commemoration of her martyrdom. Her miracle at the Council of Chalcedon is commemorated on July 11.

According to tradition, Euphemia was arrested for refusing to offer sacrifices to Ares. After suffering various tortures, she died in the arena at Chalcedon from a wound sustained from a bear. Her tomb became a site of pilgrimages. She is commemorated on September 16.
